I FINALLY GOT IN! (kind of)

I started this blog a little over a year ago. Since then, I have retaken the GMAT (5 Tips on Getting a 700+ on the GMAT), applied to 5 schools (GrantMeAdmission: The Results are In!), switched industries and moved to the West Coast. Today, I am announcing a big milestone that will positively impact my journey to get the right top MBA. I am also unofficially kicking off the application season by starting to [regularly] blog again and share a preview of posts to come.
Getting into the Riordan MBA Fellows Program
I received an email early last week informing me that I got into the Riordan MBA Fellows Program. For those of you who don’t know, the Riordan MBA Fellows Program is a pre-MBA program that focuses on providing the framework of getting into a top MBA program. UCLA Anderson hosts the program, with people coming across from all over the United States to participate. Rumor has that the acceptance rate for the program is around 10-20% with about 50 Fellows every class.
The Riordan MBA Fellows program offers a LOT of benefits and resources, including graduate-level discussions/case studies led by Anderson faculty, personal mentors, and guidance on MBA admissions. What attracted me to the program was the focus on leadership, diversity, and giving back to the community, all dominant themes in my life. However, the biggest pro I see in the program is the network of like-minded individuals aiming to get into top business schools across the country. Having a network like this fills a huge gap in my life/career. The program has a strong history sending applicants to top schools, and a lot of that is due to the network it creates.
My journey going forward
Yesterday was my first day my GMAT study routine. That’s right, I’m retaking it. I staunchly believe I can achieve a 750+. In addition to studying for the GMAT, I have started looking at a list of schools and developing a battle plan of applying this year. I also will start working on my pre-work for the Riordan MBA Fellows program, which includes reading a case study and a book.
